Gianenrico Paganini is Professor at the Philosophical Faculty of the Università del Piemonte Orientale.
The main focus of his research is the history of philosophy from the 16th to the 18th century, with particular attention being paid to Libertinism and the Skeptic tradition. His most recent monograph "Skepsis. Le débat des modernes sur le scepticisme" (Paris, Vrin, 2008) was distinguished with the Prix La Bruyère 2009 (Littérature et Philosophie) of the Académie Française.
At the CAS, he will work with Dr. Cecilia Muratori on the topic of the distinction between humans and animals based on the ethical and political conceptions of the early modern period. Gianenrico Paganini will be a fellow at the CAS in December 2012 and in the summer semester 2013 following an invitation from Dr. Cecilia Muratori. On 6 December 2012, he will give a lecture on the topic of "Theism and Atheism in Hume's Dialogues: A Question of Words?". During his residency in 2013, he will organize a seminar with Cecilia Muratori, which will also serve to present the first results of the cooperation.
